App: Remember When

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use the Remember When mobile application ("App") on iOS or Android.

By using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are

Remember When is operated by SoberSend, an individual business based in Washington, USA. SoberSend is not yet a formal LLC; this policy applies to the App as currently operated.

For privacy questions or requests, contact: sobersend@gmail.com

2. Who can use the App

The App is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

3. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: email address and display name. If you sign up with email and password, your password is stored securely by our authentication provider (we do not store plain-text passwords). If you use a social sign-in option, we receive information from that provider as described below.
  • Social sign-in: if you choose Sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, the provider shares with us the information needed to create and secure your account โ€” typically a provider user identifier and, depending on your choices and the provider, your name and email address. We do not receive your social-network password.
  • Profile information: display name and avatar color preference.
  • Birth year: the year you were born (never your full birth date), used to select quiz questions from the era you grew up in and to group scores by age cohort. Your quiz era range may be visible to friends you add in the App.
  • Social information: friend connections, friend invite codes you share or enter, and the status of invites you send (e.g., pending or accepted).
  • Gameplay information: daily quiz scores, number of correct answers, streaks, quiz history, and related progress data.
  • Support communications: information you send us if you contact support.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and push identifiers: if you enable push notifications, we store a push token (a device-specific identifier used by Apple or Google) so we can deliver notifications you have opted into, such as quiz reminders, friend activity, nudges, and streak alerts. You can turn off push notifications in your device or in-app settings.
  • App usage and diagnostics: if enabled, crash reports and error logs (e.g., via Sentry) to help us fix bugs. This may include device type, operating system version, and general app state at the time of an error.
  • Local preferences: sound/music settings, notification preferences, and similar choices stored on your device and, when you are signed in, synced to your account where applicable.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect:

  • Payment or billing information (the App is free; in-app purchases are not active at this time).
  • Precise GPS location.
  • Your phone's contact list, photos, or microphone recordings.
  • Advertising identifiers for targeted advertising.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage your account (including email verification and password reset when you use email sign-in).
  • Provide the daily quiz, scores, streaks, and leaderboards among friends.
  • Personalize your daily quiz questions to the years you grew up in, based on your birth year.
  • Enable friend invites and social features.
  • Send notifications you enable โ€” including local daily reminders on your device and, when you opt in, push notifications from our servers (e.g., reminders, friend activity, nudges, streak alerts).
  • Improve reliability, security, and performance of the App.
  • Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information only in these situations:

  • Service providers who help us run the App (see Section 6).
  • Other users you connect with: your display name, avatar, daily score (when you have played), and streak may be visible to friends you add in the App.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • Business changes: if SoberSend is reorganized, sold, or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction (you will be notified where required by law).

6. Third-party services

We use trusted third parties to operate the App:

Provider Purpose Their privacy policy
Supabase Account authentication, database, and backend APIs supabase.com/privacy
Google Sign-In Optional sign-in with Google policies.google.com/privacy

These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies.

7. Data storage and security

  • Account and gameplay data are stored on Supabase infrastructure (hosted in regions selected for our project).
  • Passwords and social sign-in tokens are handled by Supabase Auth and the respective identity providers; we do not store plain-text passwords.
  • We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure.

8. Data retention

We retain your information while your account is active and as needed to provide the App. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records for legal, security, or backup purposes.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

In the App: you can update your display name in Settings, change your password (for email accounts), and control sound, music, and notification preferences.

Account deletion: you may request account deletion by emailing sobersend@gmail.com from the email address associated with your account. We will process verified requests within a reasonable time. See our Support page for more help.

Washington residents may have additional rights under applicable state law. Contact us to exercise your rights.

10. Notifications

The App can send notifications in two ways:

  • Local reminders: if you enable a daily reminder, the App schedules a notification on your device. Reminder time and on/off status are stored in your preferences.
  • Push notifications: if you allow notifications and enable relevant settings, we may send push messages from our servers โ€” for example quiz reminders, friend or group activity, nudges, and streak alerts. We use a push token tied to your device to deliver these messages. You can disable push notifications in your device settings or in the App.

We do not use notifications to send unrelated third-party advertising.

11. International users

The App is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
